Functional and Aesthetic Nose Surgery
The first area of the human body that draws attention and is given importance is the face. Having a proper nose structure is especially complementary to the face in terms of aesthetics. Therefore, the healthier the nose is structurally and functionally, the more beautiful the face shape will look. Of course, in addition to the expression that the nose adds to the face, other important criteria include providing quality breathing, sterilizing and moisturizing the inhaled air. If there is a deformity in the nose, the person may have difficulty breathing. This can cause many problems from sleep disorders to psychological problems.
Nowadays, many people resort to some surgical operations because they are complaining about their appearance or functionality. However, it is very important that the patient is informed in detail about this issue before functional and aesthetic surgeries for the nose and that the desired revision is decided and planned together with the patient.
Types of Surgery
Surgeries that revise the nose functionally and aesthetically are divided into two groups. The first of these is rhinoplasty, which is performed to correct the aesthetic appearance of the nose, and the other is septorhinoplasty, which is performed functionally.
The purpose of rhinoplasty surgery is to correct deformities in the nose. The structural defect in the patient’s nose may be congenital or may have occurred after an accident or trauma. Before this operation is performed on the patient, the proportion of the nose structure to the face is evaluated. Since the nose cannot be considered independently of the facial area, it is essential that the size of the nose, the height of the nose tip, the nose-lip and nose-forehead angle are planned in accordance with the face. The result to be achieved in rhinoplasty is to be suitable for the face. For this reason, it is best to create a nose that is suitable for the facial anatomy instead of the nose of the patient’s dreams. It should not be forgotten that aesthetic operations should be performed in a way that is compatible with the patient’s face, is not exaggerated and most importantly does not give the appearance of intervention.
Septorhinoplasty surgeries are performed to eliminate nasal bone curvatures, nasal stenosis, nasal turbinate growth and nasal congestion resulting from these. The desired result in this operation is to eliminate nasal congestion in the patient and restore healthy breathing. Of course, in this application, the nose must be compatible with the face and other parts. Septorhinoplasty surgeries can be performed alone or together with rhinoplasty surgeries. Thus, the patient can get rid of both aesthetic concerns and nasal problems. In addition, thanks to this operation, if the nostrils are too wide, they can be narrowed or the distance between the nose and the upper lip can be changed. Even if the bones on the back of the nose are too protruding, they can be removed and revised during surgery. In septorhinoplasty, just like in rhinoplasty, congenital or accidental curvatures can be corrected.
